Terms, Acronyms, and some other things.Definitions

This page is dedicated to some of the terms we use that may not be common knowledge.  Please feel free to contribute and make suggestions or ask questions in the comments.  Depending on frequency of use, I can make it a full page and not just an article post. 

Acronyms:

  • EMOM: Every Minute on the Minute
    • Frequently used in workouts as a timing mechanism. You’ll perform a movement at the top of each minute and have the rest of the minute to rest. Some have multiple movements per minute or different movements for each minute. 
  • EOMOM: Every OTHER Minute on the Minute
    • See previous.  Same as above only the movements will be performed every 120 seconds.
  • AMRAP: As Many Reps As Possible
    • Generally a time frame will be given -AMRAP 20-. This means as many reps/rounds as possible in 20 minutes.  

Movements: 

  • RDL: Romanian Deadlift
    • This is a deadlift with “stiff” or “soft” knees.  Google is your friend. 
  • SLRDL: Single Leg Romanian Deadlift. Variation of RDL. Same as above performed one leg at at time.
